We will be learning the concept of Long and Short this week. We will arrange different sizes of red lines from shortest to longest to help us differentiate their length. We will also string beads to make some necklaces to develop our eye and hand coordination and compare our work with others to see which one is longer or shorter. We will continue to learn more about Japan in preparation for our International day on the 28th.

Book Drive
Dear Parents,
The children of The American School will be collecting books for our newly developed drop in “Reading Corner” in the TAS Elementary Building next to the entrance, from now until the end of the school year.
This literacy project will begin with this letter in the hopes that your students and you (as families) will feel comfortable sharing books with other students and families who can productively occupy this cool little school space to increase literacy options for our educational community.
Please support your child’s participation in this Book Drive Project by collecting and dropping off books at school. Beginning on Monday, November 10th, you will find a book donation box in the Elementary Lobby at arrival and dismissal times. We will stamp your family’s name in each book as a contribution symbol to recognize your efforts as our sincerest appreciation. Encourage your child to go through her/his own books and choose a few gently used reading materials to donate to this new space. If you wish, feel free to go to a book store with your child and buy items to donate, but please feel no pressure to spend unnecessary resources. As we are an American school, we would love to build our English language reading materials, however, we recognize that there are many languages spoken at our school and would therefore be happy to accept children’s reading materials in any language. The school will match this effort through developing a comfortable reading space including carpeting, bean bags, and book cases to house your contributions. The official name of this area is still being investigated, and the school will continue to inform you as new information is uncovered.
If you would like any additional information about this project or would like to volunteer in way, please contact our Elementary PE/Health teacher, Coach Justin (Justin.weiss@tasvietnam.edu.vn) who has graciously volunteered to spearhead this project.
Please be in touch whenever possible.
Kind regards,
The TAS Elementary Team
