This week in music 3rd through 5th grade are preparing so sing “Try Everything”, Shakira’s hit from the movie Zootopia at our upcoming back to school welcome assembly. The students are working hard learning the melodies and rhythms of the song to capture and express our assembly theme of optimism.
1st and 2nd graders are having fun learning rhythms through rhyme and story songs this week. We are clapping and counting rhythm and meter with song and rhyme lyrics and using rhythm instruments, dance, and games to match the story in the song.
My name is Mr Benjamin Litwicki and I am the new elementary music teacher at TAS. Following the path of former music teacher Mr Scott, we are learning to understand and recognize the elements of music and developing musical skills through song, dance, games, motion and singing. Students are also learning about the cultural significance of music and important music of history from a variety of cultures. We are learning through Orff and Kodaly approach with rhythm learning through language and stories along with singing folk music using movable “do” solfege. I look forward to an amazing year at TAS, our students are motivated and have a lot of fun.
