In quarter 3, 1st graders started learning to touch type. They impress me with their self-discipline and determination to learn how to type without looking at their fingers. Some of them even practice typing at home to get ahead of their peers. You can find the Dance Mat Typing game at:
Our first-graders have learned names of computer parts, how to find letters on a keyboard, to left-click, right-click, double-click, and practiced reading on Starfall.com and had fun on Abcya.com. I think the most important thing they learned is to help each other and keep their voice down while doing so.
