WEEK: 11 DATE: October, 31 2016

First/Second Grade: Monster Mask

The scary season is officially upon us.  We will be making some scary masks to scare our fellow trick-or-treaters.  Students will see a variety of different masks and methods for creating a truly spooky mask for the festivities later today!

 

Third/Fourth Grade:  Cut-Out Pumpkins

We will be celebrating Hallow’s Eve with some cut-out pumpkins.  Students will hear some of the history of Halloween and will make some pumpkins using scissors and glue.

Fifth Grade:  Cut-Out Pumpkins

We will be celebrating Hallow’s Eve with some cut-out pumpkins.  Students will hear some of the history of Halloween and will make some pumpkins using scissors and glue.

 

 

WEEK: 10 DATE: October, 23 2016

First/Second Grade: Black Cat Drawing

We are fast approaching Halloween. We will be making a black cat drawing using a follow method.  Once the cat is drawn, students will be able to fill in the background with their choice.

 

 

Third/Fourth Grade:  Pastel Pumpkins

We will be working with pastels on construction paper.  Students will make connections with other shapes we’ve covered previously.

 

Fifth Grade: Spooky Spider Web

We are fast approaching Halloween. We will be making a spider web using chalk on black paper.  Students will then make a spider to place on their web.

Leaf Rubbings

WEEK: 9 DATE: October, 16 2016

First/Second Grade: Jack-O-Lantern Cut-Outs

The witching season is nearly upon us, can you feel it?  We will be welcoming this spooky time of year with making Jack-O-Lanterns out of construction paper.

 

 

Third/Fourth Grade: Vampire Bats

To get ready for the spooks and goblins coming our way, we will be making a vampire bat picture using paper.  Students will make their own moon and cut out their bats.

 

Fifth Grade: Spooky Tree Painting

This week students will be creating a night time scene using paint.  The children will sit through a walk through demo of how to make a tree using different sized brushes.

WEEK: 9 DATE: October, 2 2016

First/Second Grade: Leaf Rubbings Paintings/ Clay Monsters

This week we will be ushering the new fall season with some leaf rubbing paintings.  Students will be making compositions of leaves using oil pastels and watercolor.  They will learn about contrast and how to use colors to optimal effect.

Second Grade will be finishing up their Monster Clay modeling.  We will be using our drawings from last week to create something truly terrifying!

 

Third/Fourth Grade: Rainbow Painting

As we make our way through the Monsoon season, we will turn our gaze towards the sky to look for some rainbows.  Students will learn how to create layers and make glazes.  After creating their background of clouds, students will put in their rainbow using the correct order.

 

 

Fifth Grade: Hand Trace Drawing

This week students will be learning about making contour drawings and repetition with this hand trace drawing.  Students will be tracing their hands to make a contour drawing.  They then must choose 3 analogous colors to create a repetition pattern over the arm itself, creating the illusion of space and volume.
