First/Second Grade:  Bookmarker

Welcome to Reading Week!  In the week leading up to Reading Week, we will be making some crafts related to this yearly tradition.  We will design and execute our own book markers that will be laminated so they will be able to use them in the future and recall the importance of a good book!

 

Third/Fourth Grade: Bookmarker/Reading Week Poster

This week we are going to be making posters to spread the word about Reading Week.  These pictures will be displayed around the stairwell to show the various characters from books reading.  Preference will be given to those that are colored and have the words “Reading Week”  somewhere in the frame.

 

Fifth Grade: Reading Week Poster

WEEK: 3 DATE: August 21, 2016

First/Second Grade:  Sunset/Palm trees Painting

This week we are going to be building upon the color theory from last week.  Students will be creating a painting of the sunset and making a palm tree that will go in front.  They will learn various techniques graded washes and cross-fading between colors. These skills are fundamental building blocks that will enable students to eventually create realistic paintings.

WEEK: 2 DATE: August 14, 2016

First/Second Grade: All About Us!

Continuing with last week’s introductions, rules, and procedures; we will be making a picture of our favorite things.  We brainstormed our most cherished possessions and made some rough sketches last week.  This week we will be finishing them using various media at the discretion of the student.

 

Third/Fourth Grade: Colour Wheel

We will be reviewing colour theory this week and later some watercolour techniques.  Students will see a quick informational video about Isaac Newton and his discovery of the colour wheel.  Students will be quizzed on their prior knowledge with how to mix colours.

 

Fifth Grade: Watercolour Techniques

We will learn some watercolor techniques that will give the students more control of their work.  They will learn various wet/dry techniques.  They will then make a painting using at least 3 of the techniques they had just learned.

Welcome back to T.A.S.!  I hope you all had a great summer!  We are excited to be back and making Art again!  This week we will be getting started with reviewing the rules and procedures so that all our students can have a safe and productive experience in Art class.

We will be spending the rest of this week learning about each other.    Students will be making a drawing that shows their favorite things and a drawing of themselves.
