Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten: Traffic on the Saigon River

This week we will be taking a look outside at the Saigon River.  Students will learn how their mastery of shapes will help them in creating a lovely landscape.  They will draw out their areas and then paint in the background with watercolour.

Third/Fourth Grade: Graph Paper Drawings

In preparation for Science Week, we will focusing on the segways of where art and science collide.  Students will be asked to make an original drawing using only grid paper and rulers.  Once they are finished, they must fill in the boxes with color.  The choice of medium will be up to the student.  Experimentation in gradation and originality is encouraged.

WEEK: 25 DATE: March 13, 2016

Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten: Clay Animals

This week we will be working on our shapes and shaping ability with Clay Animals. We will have a refresher of molding clay and how to use shapes to make animals.

 

First/Second Grade:  Bamboo Chinese Brush Painting

Come with us this week to visit our neighbors to the north China. We will review painting techniques of how to get the perfect colorful effects through using different brushes, washes, and application methods.

 

Third/Fourth Grade: An·thro·po·mor·phic Character

We will be making an anthropomorphic character using clay. Students will be asked to take inanimate object and to give it human characteristics (eyes, hands, mouth, and arms). Students will be designing their own character on paper before tackling their final design.

Fifth Grade: Monochromatic City Landscape Painting

This week, students will be making a landscape using one color and mixing the tones using black and white for the different layers. Buildings that are far away will be higher and then will be mixed down to the darker tones of red until completely black.
