WEEK: 36 DATE: June 2, 2014

Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten: Cut Out Skyline

This week we will be studying architecture and the outline of buildings.  Students will watch a demonstration how to trace the buildings and make a cut-out of the skyline.

 

First/Second Grade: Tissue Paper Tie Dye

We will be exploring the world of design and patterns.  After watching a presentation of various textiles and patterns, students will be creating their own repeating patterns on tissue paper.

 

Third/Fourth Grade: Plastic Animal Still Life

In Art class, we will be exploring the natural world of animals.  Students will be developing their observational skills with drawing animal figurines.

 

Fifth Grade: Andy Warhol Polaroid Portraits

Students will be learning about Pop Art and the silkscreens of Andy Warhol.  We will be making our own pictures and employing techniques of painting over photographic images.

 

 

 

 

WEEK: Week 35 DATE: May 26, 2014

Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten: This week we will be exploring the world of rubbings.  Students will be making a composition using leaves and crayons.

 

First/Second Grade: Our students will be working on our observational skills with drawing animal figurines.  We will work in various media while exploring how to capture an animal. 

 

Third/Fourth Grade: We will be exploring the world of architecture this week.  Students will be creating their own buildings with construction paper and pens.  We will look at some of the more famous structures around the world.

 

Fifth Grade: Students will be creating a board game this week.   Working in teams, students will have to create the rules and objectives.  They will also design the board and playing pieces.

 

 

 

 

 

WEEK: Week 34 DATE: May 19, 2014

Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten: Cardboard City

This week students will learn about architecture and buildings as we construct a cardboard city.  Students will use cardboard to make their own creations.

First/Second Grade: Heartbeats Poster

In keeping with our Heartbeats Fund Raising campaign, we will make posters to raise awareness about this charity organization.  Students will be making their own taglines and images during this week.

Third/Fourth Grade: Heartbeats Poster

In keeping with our Heartbeats Fund Raising campaign, we will make posters to raise awareness about this charity organization.  Students will be making their own taglines and images during this week.

 

Fifth Grade: Heartbeats Poster

WEEK 33 DATE: May 5, 2014

 

Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten:  Newspaper Sharks

We will be studying sea life and reusing materials this week.  Students will be creating their own sharks which they will paint, cut out, and paste into an ocean scene.

 

First/Second Grade: Bumble Bee Swarm

Students will be learning about the importance of the bee and how much of our life depends on their work.  We will also be creating some drawings to outline the cycle that bees have with collecting nectar and turning it into honey.

 

Third/Fourth Grade: Hand Targets and Geometric Exercises

We will be continuing on with the hand targets from last week and beginning a geometric exercise where the students will create shapes using angles and rulers.

Fifth Grade: Coffee Filter Solar System

The Fifth Grade will be making the solar system this week using coffee filters, pens, and spray bottles.  Each student will be assigned a different planet.
