WEEK: 28 DATE: March 31, 2014

Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten: We will be exploring the world of birds this week.  We will be creating owls from toilet paper rolls and making birds on a wire.

 

First/Second Grade: This week we will be brushing up our basic skills.  Students will be mixing between colors and working on their shading of objects.

 

Third/Fourth Grade: Students will be learning about the wild when they make their Safari Silhouettes.   We will be creating a great outdoor picture and make animals to go in the foreground as silhouettes.

 

Fifth Grade: This week we will be learning about the Pop Art movement of the 1960’s.  We will be creating portraits using the same techniques of Andy Warhol’s Factory.

WEEK 27 DATE: March 24, 2014

Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten: Cherry Blossom Festival Collage

We will be learning about the Cherry Blossom festivals that take place in Japan during the first weeks of spring time.  Students will be constructing their own cherry blossom collage using different paper.

First/Second Grade:  International Smiles Contest

This week we will be making posters for raising awareness regarding oral hygiene.  Students will be making posters for the International Smiles Contest.  Good habits with brushing and flossing teeth can be a benefit for growing students. 

 

Third/Fourth Grade:

WEEK 25 DATE: March 10, 2014

Nursery/Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten:  Eric Carle’s Brown Bear Painting­­­

 

In keeping with Reading Month, we will be exploring the works of the famous child author Eric Carle.  We will be making our own version of some of one of his most beloved characters, Big Bear. 

 

First/Second Grade:

We will be exploring the world of travel this week.  We will create our own boats and airplanes.   Students will design their own boats with sails and will be part of a collage. 

 

Third/Fourth Grade: Squiggle Pass Around/ Ink Abstract Paintings

This week we will using our power of imagination in looking at Art and executing new work.  Students

 

Fifth Grade: Continuing on with observation drawings, the students will be making a drawing of their shoes.  This exercise teaches students to become observers of everyday objects and that anything can become a work of art.
